CABSAT is the largest broadcast, digital media and satellite expo in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region. Set to run from 14 to 16 January at Dubai World Trade Centre, the 24th edition of the annual event is expected to attract around 20,000 visitors active in content creation, management and distribution to explore the latest products and technologies that are taking centre-stage today.
As a strategic partner of CABSAT, Dubai Studio City will offer event delegates the chance to tour its facilities. It will also sponsor the ‘Script to Screen in 48’ competition that invites film production students to participate in a half-day workshop with Martin Gaiss, former Senior Vice President of Global Creative Content at 20th Century Fox, and use their learnings to create short films.
Furthermore, Dubai Studio City will participate in the judging panel of the CABSAT Appathon competition that challenges 10 content development teams to create the best TV app using the Metrological software development kit (SDK) in just 48 hours.

According to the Arab Media Outlook 2016-2018 report, digitalisation is one of the main trends causing a paradigm shift in the media industry, driven by the increasing tendency of the youth to consume and produce online content that is mainly due to the rise of smartphone and video space usage.
